I recently saw a post about French Toast being a possible Christmas breakfast and it just flooded back these memories of my Christmas breakfast tradition, which is amusing and still my very favorite story to tell about donuts...
Our Christmas breakfast tradition growing up for was my Grandma and Grandpa would bring us donuts. I asked Grandpa why we started eating donuts on Christmas
Grandpa said "they were the only ones who had to wake up at 5 a.m. and drive all the way from their house to our house and on the way was my Grandpa's faaaavorite donut shop, not because they had the best donuts but because it was the donut shop right off the 15!"
So...that's why we had Christmas donuts and I still, to this day, get fresh donuts, I may not drive to the best donut shop like Grandpa, I drive to the one that's the closest, which is honestly the best way to uphold this family breakfast tradition!
What do you think are you ready to change over to my Grandpa's Christmas breakfast tradition of donuts?
